Relationship Status: [Happily] Enagaged

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Wednesday, July 07, 2010 in , , , ,
OMG. I still can't believe it. Hehe.

Pre-Engagement:

Okay, starting from when the things got finalized and we had to rush to malls and caterers to finalize things there. It was a hectic, but a fun-packed job. And I badly prayed for things to go smooth. Being a perfectionist I really disliked when it rained yesterday. I mean you know how much I love rains but yesterday was a different story =P And Alhamdolillah it didn't rain during the big event =D See, my prayers do get answered real quick! Alhamdolillah. Okay, back to the pre-engagement fun. So, 2 days before the Big Day, my cousins and relatives organized a mini dholki at our place and it was huge fun! All (exclude me)  danced madly. Like real madly! And we sung songs on dholl, the real fun type songs. Haha.

The next day I got hennafied. Momma fed me dinner. That was the best part of the whole day. I was acting like a princess. Hehe. I mean sitting at one place and getting my work done by others. That was amazing for a few hours but after that I got tired of not doing work myself. I'm stupid. Thankyouverymuch.

That day my dress and things came as well. And the packing was ammmazing MashAllah. We also packed "his" stuff that day. Took loadsa pictures. And the thing that was itching me the most was the camera was not in my hands. Being hennafied has its own disadvantages.

Okay wrapping up this section and going to the next one now. But wait, the beauty parlor story is left. But it's a very comprehensive one, which will be described by pictures.

Engagement:

So the big day was here and I was completely sleep deprived. I slept at 4 am and woke up after exactly 2 hours. I just couldn't sleep anymore. Anyway, I was forced to take a nap at 3 pm which was pretty helpful.

So when I entered the lawn, I really admired the decoration and I was itching to take pictures of the place and flowers. *sigh* mein aisi kyun houn? For a good lot of time I was comfily seated inside the ... uh, bridal room. Got pictures there. And there was a funny scene. The glass doors of that room were covered with curtains. I was seated on an armchair under the fan and from that angle I was able to see people outside in the lawn. And guess what, the only "people" I could see was "him"!!!! So what would you call that, a mere coincidence? =P

Then when the time came for the ceremony and when he held my hand to slide the ring in my finger, my heart stopped beating. Pakka I'm not exaggerating here. It was a very very different feeling. My legs froze and became rock-hard. Although he did try to keep me at ease with small conversations before the big moment, but at that very moment, I got so ... No, I can't describe that feeling anymore. No more adjectives left now. But I must say it was awesome! MashAllah. =) I had decided I was not going to get nervous but... well, those who have experienced it know very well how it feels. And now I laugh at my awkward feeling. Haha. Us waqt to jaan nikli hui thi =D

Oh, and there are other funny stories related to the event =P But of course, I can't post them all over here. Because, that would make the post too lengthy then. Haha.

All in all, the ceremony went awesome-ish. Alhamdolillah. And I slept at 4 am last night.

Post-Engagement:

*all smiles* =)

What's Next II

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Wednesday, June 02, 2010 in , ,
At the end of my post What's Next I, I wrote "14 hours are still left". This post is about how those 14 hours stretched into the most irritating ...*counts on fingers* .... almost 200 hours! Scary, eh? Read on...

* That day while walking behind a girl, I accidently stepped on her foot, and she stumbled and jerked badly. So before she could turn around and kill me with her glares (or a similar act), I stepped a foot to my left, and started looking even more sideways. Heheh.... I is evil, I knows! =P

* Now comes the BIGGEST bad-est news!!! My Mac Delight crashed! Could you just believe it??? At least I wasn't able to digest this news! It all started with Mac slowing down, as you say "hang ho-ing" for Windows, the same happened with my dearie baby Mac. So, I searched the internet but couldn't find any remedy, because it's a rareeeee problem. I contacted Mac gurus at Apple Store, and they advised me to reinstall OS X. But before I could do, I saw this error on the screen:

NTLDR is missing
Press Alt+Ctrl+Del to restart...

See, it's a typical Window-ish error! Where on earth should I locate these three darn keys on my infected baby Mac? =( My bad luck was when I bought my Mac Delight, I asked them to install Windows on it too (though I never used it) and that stupid Windows silently infected my dearie machine. Errrr.... Stupid Windows. Silly Bill Gates!

After more than a week, today when I went to collect my machine from the store, I was informed my machine has been upgraded from 160 GB HD to a 250 GB HD =) and OS has been upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard [and it again got degraded to Leopard because the darn Worldcall Wireless internet USB doesn't work on Snow Leopard]. *sigh* *BIG, HUGE SIGH* Why doesn't the world upgrade their systems and technologies???? I was getting a complimentary Snow Leopard, and these Worldcall people spoiled the whole deal! Grrrr.

Oh, and my Momma almost killed me with all those horrible hourly scolding sessions. At first I tried to say, "Allah ki maslihat hogi", but then I realized I better accept my mistake. See, Windows people, I had to take your darn fault on myself.

Aray, and do you know all my data has been lost as well. WINDOWS, I HATE YOU!!!!!

So before I phatofy with anger, I better go out and enjoy rains!

Cheerio =D

PS: Did I say I hate Windows? Yeah? I'm glad I said that! *hugs her Mac Delight* Apple is my happiness package! I feel alive again! =D Luhfff you MacPie =D

Eid Day Marathon

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in , , ,

In my previous post I told you guys that this Eid is going to be a very different one. And I was right! Never expected such a huge influx of guests and a refrigerator overflowing with cakes only! My yesterday was spent doing the following 'few' tasks.

1. Greet guests.
2. Go to the kitchen.
3. Make refreshments.
4. Serve the guests.
5. Greet another set of guests.
6. Pick up the dirty plates.
7. Repeat step # 2.
8. Refill the servings.
9. Repeat step #4.
10. Repeat step #2.
11. Tie the apron.
12. Roll up sleeves.
13. Wash the dishes. [See, the unlucky 13 had to be this one!]
14. Once done, get rid of the apron.
15. Roll down the sleeves.
16. Repeat step #5.
17. Repeat step #2.
18. Get out of the kitchen to say tata to the Step #1 guests.
19. Wash my face.
20. And do a lil inhale-n-exhale session to refresh myself up.

And guess what, I had to repeat the above 20 steps from 9 am to 9 pm =) At the end of the day, all of my bones started squeaking badly. My right arm and my lil feet were almost dead and were begging me to take some rest. Ahhhh! Did I just say rest??? To give a lil comfort to my aching arm, I had to tie a crepe bandage around it. But due to an exponential increase in my arm ache, I had to swallow a bitter painkiller too. :/ Those who know me know well how much I dislike to take medicines! :/

That was my Eid's 1st day and I luhbed it! =D Though it went a lil too busy but I got the chance to meet (or well, just say Salam and Allah Hafiz to) many of my loved ones =)

EID MUBARAK! =D

PS: I missed out the collecting-Eidi step from the algorithm above :P And it has a reason. Momma was collecting it on my behalf. Now I must go and do the hisaab-kitaab :P

PPS: I didn't wear my proposed Eid dress. Wore a shocking pink and white one instead =) Hahaha. Now don't picture me as a pathan, my dress was a very decent type, and everybody (including me) loved it! =D

Eid's Coming =D

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Saturday, September 19, 2009 in , , ,
Me is taggeth by my tweenie sis, Asma =) *hugs*

1. What are you wearing for eid? for girls: What color is it? ;)

I've planned to wear a not-so-glitzy caramel and beige colored dress. And it's so decent, I just luhvvv it =D

2. How do you intend to spend chand raat? Whats the usual norm?

I'd call and txt my friends "Eid Mubarak" (only if our beloved networks allow :P). The usual norm is actually to go buy cake for Biya & Co. and also get my hands henna-ed, but this Eid would be a totally different one.

3. How do you spend Eid? Go for namaaz or sleep late?

Definitely go for Eid prayers. Then get back home, and send (and receive) Sheer Khurma in our neighborhood. =) I hardly get time to sleep on Eid. The day goes berry busy.

4. What’s the menu on Eid?

Sheer Khourma, for sure! And breakfast usually has halwa puri or any other heavy breakfast item =D And there's a lot of juices cuz I feel extra thirsty on Eid day =$

5. Share 5 Eid festivity related pictures of your choice. (you can post ur eid dress, preparations pictures too ;) )

Pic # 1: Choorian! =D Took this picture yesterday especially for this post :P There was no other stall where I could find a better quality/design bangles displayed this way.

Pic # 2: Siwaiyyaaan!!! =D Although I'm not a big fan of plain vermicelli, but I love them in Sheer Khurma :D

Pic # 3: Where to save all the Eidi? :P

Pic # 4: My shweetheart, Umer!!!! Yep we actually made him wear that huge Namaz scarf and took pictures :D

Pic # 5: Abeer baby wearing those Eid rainbow sunglasses :P Kids always ask for funky purses, rainbow glasses, cartoony wrist watches and, well, how can I forget Ballloooonssss :P

I love Eids =D I love dressing up and meeting people/ cousins/ friends.

Wish you all a blessed Eid! =D Enjoy =P

Cheerio folks =)

Double Celebration!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Friday, August 14, 2009 in , ,
First of all Happy Independence Day to all of you!! =) I wanted to make doughnuts today, but Momma told me that Sana's coming, so I shouldn't try making doughnuts. Maybe tomorrow or some other time =) So, I made coconut cake in my new cake mould that I bought from Imtiaz supermarket (I'm totally lattoo over it), and I decorated the cake and set it in the platter that I bought from the same Imtiaz =) Here it is! =)

Oh, and the other good news is that my big bro got promoted to Lieut. Cdr. =) MashAllah MashAllah =) We're all so happy for him!!! I wish Papa had been here. He was so waiting for this day to come.

Tonight my brother is going on a cruise to the Gulf. I ask you all to please pray for him and all of us. =)

When The Rain Falls Down!!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Friday, July 17, 2009 in , ,
Oh yes, like this girl, I wanna go out and run in the rain. That's so refreshing! :D I still remember how we used to play catch-catch in rains (2 years back at our previous residence). And once I slipped so badly, my dad banned me from playing such a stupid game. Even I was unable to get up for a few moments, but after 2-3 minutes I went out to play again :P Silly me!

Oh, and this marks my 600th post on this blog =D Yayyyy :D

From Your Proud Daughter

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Sunday, June 28, 2009 in ,
Dearest Papa

I'm proud and honored to to give this glad tidings to you. I don't have words to describe how I feel. Okay, well... I cleared the IBA test and interview. Alhamdolillah! I wish you were here. I wish I could celebrate my happiness with you. Seeing me getting into IBA, the best business school in the country, was your dream. You invigorated the spirit in me. I wish I could actually show you the results, discuss the idiotic paper with you and share with you how beautifully I messed up the paper and still managed to get a good score =)

When I came home after having that awful-est exam of my life, I wanted to share each and every question with you, I wanted to cry and see you getting a lil mad on me. I wanted to share stories about all those weird candidates who appeared in the test and how insaan-like they were looking when they came for the interview. Lol. Silly, no? =D

It's not that I don't share these things with Momma, it's just that I miss you, I miss your views, I miss your golden words, I miss sharing things with you. I miss just everything about you. You have no idea how badly I want you right now. Right now with ME. I've got tons of stories to share with you, and I need your opinion, your share on them.

On this big day of my life, I'm not a least bit happy. I don't feel this feeling in a true sense. My whole class is happy for me, my teachers, my fellow bloggers, my dearest siblings, and Momma of course. But I feel hollow. I need my motivator back. I need YOU back!

-------

I'm proud of the fact that I took an initiative to make this of your dream come true. I hope I remain steadfast in these 2 years. And I hope I pursue my further studies/ work even more diligently.

I don't think I can write anymore now.

*Big hugs*

Yours

Get Together

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in , , , ,

So on Saturday we had a get together @ Roasters. We all were reading the menu cards and were deciding which steak to eat. So, I asked Farwah, sitting next to me, about what she's ordering. She wanted a brownie, and I was confused between steak and cheeseburger.

Farwah: Okay people, I'm ordering a brownie
Dinky Mind: And I'm ordering Dunhill Regular.
Farwah: Oh, is it good? How much does it cost?
Dinky Mind: *gets the worst laughter fit* :D

And then I called out Ritz, who was sitting beside Farwah and didn't hear the joke. Farwah put her hand on my mouth and glared, "Do NOT!". Hahaha... But mein kahan ruknay wali thi. :D I told everyone about it! And it turned out to be an awesome evening. =D

Cheerio folks =)

PS: Oh, and I ordered Jalapeno Bacon Cheeseburger, in case you're thinking :P And had Choco ice-cream with waffles. =D

To: Dearest Daddy

Shweetest Papa,

Today was Bushi's birthday. And I made these cookies and cheese-stuffed pizza, AND coconut-chocolate tarts :D How do the cookies look like? Cutie na? I was itching to make them the day I saw this recipe on Leemz blog. And today I just did :D When 4 months ago you brought these cutie cookie cutters, I was dying to have a cookie recipe and use those cutters. And today I just did :) Although after making these cookies and tarts I could barely stand, but I totally enjoyed trying out these new recipes =)

And I'm missing you way too much today. =( Every time I make something new or scrumptious I miss you. You always used to love it and would appreciate it with a pat on my back =( I wish you were here. =( I'm sending these cookies. Do share them with your friends and let me know if they like it or not =) I'd send more if they do =D

Keep praying for your silly daughter =)

Photo Session

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in , , ,
Yesterday we had a photo session at the university, for the Graduates' Directory. And it took our whole day. I don't want to recall it, it was that horrible. We were at the uni around 8:30 am and had a photo shoot at 3 pm. Just imagine our faces - so maasi-like! :/ Plus, the audi's air-conditioning system was acting like a lame ***.

I've got this problem with me. I'm heck punctual. Or well, the max late I get is 10-15 minutes. And yesterday I had to wait for that silly photographer for 5 hours!!! I started having a severe headache. Argh!!! Ritz came late, around 11 am. Sana came late too, around 10:30 am. And I was so pissed at both of them. I had to spend 2 hours (8:30 - 10:30) with my other lame classmates. :/ Why do my silly friends wake up so late? :/

Oh, but the good part of the day was when I presented a box to my sssssilly friends - Ritz and Sana =) I had baked Rainbow cupcakes on Mother's Day for my Mommy dear, and saved these 2 heart-shaped pieces for my 2 stupid friends =) And I gave my Mommy a cutie flower-shaped piece :D She luhvs flowers, but when I took photos of these 2 hearts, she liked it too =) Thanks to my Shweet Daddy who bought these cutie moulds and the muffin tray for me. I miss you loads =(

Oh, and thanks to Leemz for the recipe. =) Luhv you for such a shweet recipe =)

Cheerio folks =)

PS: I hardly ate one cupcake. Bushi ate them all :(
PPS: I'm done with making 1/3 reports. And I feel so happy, I don't want to study anymore :D Hahaha. Prayers needed, cuz finals are starting from June 8th, and by May 25th, I have to submit 2 more reports and have to prepare for 2 presentations *faints* =(

From Your Daughter

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Sunday, May 10, 2009 in , ,

As a mother and daughter,
we have a special relationship
that hasn't happened overnight --
it's come through years
of learning, sharing...growing.
I know there have been
times in my life
when I had trouble accepting
the things you were trying
to teach me...
...when I thought you were being
too strict or old-fashioned...
when I thought
you didn't understand.
But I've come to realise
that you understood
all along...
that you were guiding me,
not only with motherly love,
but with your experience
as a woman.

Now I feel so much closer to you.
And more and more
I find new ways
to relate to you...
new feelings to share.
We have so much
in common,
as women...as friends,
and so much
to look forward to
in the years ahead.
Because of all the ways
you've cared,
I know I'm a better person...
I know I'm better prepared
for whatever
life has to offer.

That's the card I made for my Sooper Mom =)

I usually keep cards in my mom's room, lounge, kitchen at night. So yesterday, I finished making this card at 2 am. And kept it in the lounge. Momma Dear loved it so much =) Thanks to me who had to eat all those pistachios in this hot weather, and is now waiting for those silly pimples to pop up on my dinosaur-thick skin =( But I enjoyed every second of making this card!! =) [Glue-gun rules!!] =P Some day I'd post all the cards that I made on the yester- Mother's Day and on her birthdays. =)

Cheerio folks =)

PS: And this txt msg was sent by my bro to ammi:
"When I came home in the rain,
brother asked why you didn't take an umbrella.
Sister advised why you didn't wait till rain stopped.
Father angrily warned, only after getting cold will you realize?
But Mother, while drying my hair, said,
'Stupid rain!! Couldn't it wait till my child came home?"

PN Shooting Range

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Friday, March 13, 2009 in , ,
I have always been passionate about shooting. The first (and the last time) I ever shot a pistol was almost 10-11 years ago at Fort Qasim. And even before that I've done rifle shooting too at our NORE-1's residence. I've heard my Nana used to go for hunting and it had always seemed an enjoyable sport to me.

Anyway, I went to PN Shooting Range, Karsaz, after my classes. I met the officer there and he briefed me about the basic things and fee structure. He then directed me to the OIC (Office Incharge). After talking to him for 5-10 minutes, we went towards the Shooting Range - the Rifle Shooting area. There I met Miss S., my junior in the university. She gave me the overview and we then watched people shooting at the targets. That was fun. There were Naval officers from UK, China, France, Bangladesh, and Australia. [These people are actually visiting Pakistan on Exercise Aman (Peace) and also took part in Shooting Competition]. When Miss S.'s turn came, we were called for refreshments. Although I wanted to go home as my tour was almost over, but the OIC insisted that we all should go for refreshments. There was actually the prize-giving ceremony being held in the Pistol Shooting area, and later there were refreshments to be served.

The ceremony was fun too. The French XO (Executive Officer) won the most 4 medals and the winning trophy. He later came to us and the Chief Guest introduced us all. The CG said that this French guy doesn't like to talk in English, but he came to give the bouquet to us (of course, any one girl would have taken it away). He presented the bouquet and a girl from our group accepted it. I talked to that guy in french and he and the CG were so delighted, the bouquet was taken from that girl and was given to me :D

So this was the end of my day at Shooting Range :) From March 24, new session would be started, and I'd InshAllah be joining from then :)

Prayers needed. [Pray that someday I own a pistol or a rifle of my own] ;)

Cheerio folks =)

The Man of Honor.

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Sunday, March 01, 2009 in
I have no clue where to start from. I should probably start from Monday, Feb 23, 2009. A fresh new day for us. I dropped my Dad to Shifa Hospital for his regular medical check up, and headed to university. I was in class at 10:15 am, when he called, and said,
Dad: "I've called Abdullah to pick me up from Shifa".
Me: "Nah, I can come. After 15 minutes I'd be free, I'd come to pick you up"
Dad: *hesitatingly* "Don't worry. If I'd need you, I'd call you".
And these were the last words that he spoke to any one of us. I was the last one from our family whom he talked to. I just cannot forget his words and his ever-content face.

On my way back to home (from uni), Mommy called me. I was near the colony so didn't pick up. The moment I stepped in the house, my Mom told me that Dad fell in the hospital. She was hell worried. At once, I quickly got into the car and sped towards Shifa. On the way, she told me that Biya received a call from the hospital that Dad is in a serious condition and that we should reach the hospital in max 30 minutes. Shifa is like on the other side of the city. I was racing at 70+ speed. It was hard to keep my Mom calm, to hide my own emotions and to reach Shifa as quickly as possible. But I had to be strong! At last, we reached there. We quickly went in the Emergency. We were guided to ICU. We were so out of our senses that we went to the CCU. Mom was trying to ask the nurse, while I was madly searching the cubicles for my Dad.
Mom: In which room is Mr. Siddiqi?
Nurse: I'm sorry?
Mom: Mr. Siddiqi? Rooh-ul-Amin Siddiqi?
Nurse: Where have you been guided Ma'am?
Mom: ICU!
Nurse: This is CCU, Ma'am. But please sit down and relax. I'd bring you a glass of water. Don't worry. Your patient would be fi...
Before she could complete her sentence, we were out of that place. I have no clue why I climbed the stairs. I think I was searching for ICU. I heard someone say that it's on first floor. But it was not on the first floor of that building/ department. When I was on the first floor and unable to find ICU, I asked a medical assistant to guide me. He quickly told me the directions and with the same speed I rushed downstairs. Finally we found ICU. Found my brother (Abdullah) there. He didn't tell us anything, just asked us to pray. I called Nani ammi and cried. She got worried too. Asked her to inform all our relatives. Later we were told that my Dad fainted near the dispensary. A young man, round late 20s, brought him to the Emergency and dialled various numbers from my Dad's phone. We were also told that he got 6 cardiac attacks in 60 minutes! The doctors did the Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (or simply chest compressions). Later when that didn't even work, they had to give him electric shocks. He was on ventilator. How painful for my sensitive Dad.

Once I was allowed to enter ICU. I was horrified to see him. He was surrounded by huge machines. Different machines gave different, fluctuatuing readings. I was going numb. I don't know when my brother held me tight and the only thing I asked him was, "Papa will survive na?" I just couldn't resist my tears. He helped me walk out of the ICU. His eyes were closed. I so wanted to kiss his hands but I couldn't. I was extremely extremely scared. After 2-3 hours when I went again in the ICU, I saw my Dad moving up and down. I almost screamed and called the nurse and asked her what was happening to him. She told me that now he was breathing on his own. Earlier it was just the machines. I was then told that his BP was 53/30. Can you imagine? I was told he was regaining his BP. Earlier it was ZERO! I have seen his BP shoot up to 160/120! I was told that when he fell at the Dispensary, his sugar level had shot to an alarming 570! That's the "Death Level", as they call it. Today I was told that doctors said there just 1% chance of his survival. It would be a miracle if he survives. If he does, he'd stay paralyzed. His brain had stopped functioning the moment he had fallen down.

I remember in Feb 2005, he had his angiocardiography. His medical report stated that out of the 4 arteries, 3 were completely blocked, and the 4th one was 80% blocked. Roughly, it means that only 5% of his complete heart was functional. 95% was blocked! This is the miracle with which he survived for 4 complete years! My Dad's heart specialist never used to believe him. He would look at the reports, then at my Dad, and then back at the reports, and would say, "Siddiqi Sahab, today I got to know miracles do happen!"

When at night, we came home from Shifa, we all were very tired and worried too. But doctors had reassured us that his pulse was getting back to normal (earlier, there was no pulse). That night I had two dreams; one in which I saw my Dad very happy and healthy, and the other scary one, which came true the next morning. Around 2 am, my brother called the hospital staff and they said he was recovering. Momma and others were relieved. Probably that's the time when I had that dream. In the morning, around 6:30 am he passed away. And probably that's the time when I had that nightmare.

I was told at 8 am. I was sleeping, when Biya came in my room, her frozen hands squeezed mine and she started crying. I screamed like anything. Right next to my room is our beloved lawn. Mommy was watering the plants with my younger brother (Mars). Biya covered my mouth quickly and whispered, "Ammi doesn't know". Ammi had heard my scream and sent Mars to check. He came and saw me crying. When he innocently asked me, I lied that I had a nightmare. I REALLY wish it was a nightmare! Biya wanted to make Ammi have breakfast first. If Ammi doesn't eat breakfast on time, she starts having migraine. I got up quickly. Went to the kitchen, asked our maid to prepare kebab sandwiches, went in Mommy's room, took a dress out for her, and told Biya to send her for shower. I hadn't had the courage to look into my Mom's eyes and resist my tears. I went past her almost thrice, but didn't say Salam or uttered any other word. I sent her for shower, quickly cleaned my room, then her room, picked up my Dad's valuables (his wallet, check books, keys), locked them up in a drawer, locked other cupboards, slid the keys in a keychain and put the cell phones, keys and other stuff in a purse (which stayed with me at all times).

My Mamoo, Maami, her Ammi (who is also my Dad's chachi and Mom's Mumani) came to our place. We told them not to tell Momma. The moment she came out of the shower, my Nani Ammi and other Mamoo and Maamis were there. When she saw so many people at an unsual 8:30 am, she got bewildered. And she started crying when my Mamoo said, "Allah ki cheez thi, Allah ne ley li". Nani and Biya were holding Ammi. I was sitting in a corner. Even at that time I was too frightened to sit with her. I didn't want to accpet the reality. I was under the impression that she still didn't know. I was going through a very weird, and a very unexplainable phase of my life. [Astaghfirullah] I had lost faith in Allah. I thought we were cheated. I didn't pray the whole day. I didn't want to recite Quran. I staye away from my Mom, who needed me the most at that time. People started pouring in. The whole setting of our house was changed. Everything was pushed to the corner so that more space could be made for the people to sit and pray.

I was thinking that when all these people would leave, Papa would come. And I'd serve him a glass of water as usual. Like I said, I didn't want to accept the truth. I don't know how many times my Maami took my name. It was when she jolted me that I came to reality. She asked me softly, "Beta, Papa ka Ehraam kahan hay?" Upon hearing these words I wanted the earth to open up and gulp me inside! I was silently cursing everyone around. But of course, either I would be knowing or Ammi would be knowing where his Ehraam was. I didn't realize this thing then. I was just looking in the void space and was praying for all of them to leave and my dad to return.

Bushi had gone to school. When he returned, Papa's dead body was beofre him. How painful for him. He didn't know what to do. He couldn't even cry properly. Even I was held tightly by my Phuppo. I was getting out of control.

First day I didn't cry that much. Again, my mind wasn't accepting it. The second day also passed like that. But at night, when I was sitting in Dad's room, away from Ammi, in the middle of too many people, I realized that he is no more among us. He won't ever come back. Even if I start praying for him, he won't. With this thought, tears started running down my eyes. I quickly went in my room, as I'm one of those who can't cry in front of anyone. I closed the door of the room and started crying. I was screaming badly, punching my bed. It was after I don't know how many minutes that Biya came. I even pushed her away and asked her to leave me alone and let me cry. After that Lala came in searching for Biya, then Bhabi, then Maami. That day I couldn't properly cry my heart out. I should've locked my room.

I never knew I was that attached to him. I thought daughters are attached to their moms, and sons to their fathers. I was wrong. If I ask him for anything, the next day that thing used to be in my hands. I was such a pampered child of my Dad. That day I just asked him to bring me Muffin tray, and he brought a lot more baking accessories with the muffin tray. He's the one who bought me MacBook. He's the one who has gathered a million and two things for my dowry. He would keep me involved in his financial matters. We would discuss political programs. He would laugh at my crooked jokes, my idiotic accent. He would appreciate my burnt roti. He was the one who could even bring me stars if I had ever asked him to. It pinches me everytime that I never cared for him as much as I should. He used to call me his "Baita". I always acted like "Daddy's Little" and never grew up and took things seriously. I have to grow up now. I have to become his "Baita".

I'm gonna miss him with every passing moment, with every passing day. I am proud to be his daughter. I ask all of my readers to pray for him (loads and loads please), and to pray Allah to give me strength to accomplish all what he wanted me to achieve successfully. Also please pray Allah to infuse kindness in me, and never ever make me proud of any worldly thing. Ameen.
