Argh!

"Are you sane? I mean, why don't you take food?"
"Why are you after your life? Go, and eat something."
"Don't show me your face until you think you've had your food-o-meter full."
"Tell me the name of that genius who insisted you on coming to the uni."
[Me: "Remember we've got 2 quizzes today?]
"And you came here for quizzes???"

Yes readers, these are what people around me saying about me!

Let me clarify you all one thing. I "do" take food and I do take rest. What is my fault if headache and fever want to become my friends? Do you think I like having fever and cough? Who does? I do take medicines and I do take care of myself. The world hasn't stopped producing Disprins!

I've got Eco and Statistics' quiz today. And I plan to go home at 12:30 pm, if someone picks me from here. And yeah, I'm feeling better now!!! So, my dear friends, stop worrying! I heard someone say, "Fever and aches are good for a person". [Now don't start arguing cuz I myself don't know 'how' it's good! ]

Awight folks, pray for my quizzes.

Cheerio =)

Bee!!!!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Sunday, May 28, 2006 in
A man comes running to the doctor shouting and screaming in pain " Please doctor, you've got to help me. I've been stung by a bee."

DOCTOR: " Don't worry; I'll put some cream on it."

MAN: " You will never find that bee. It must be miles away by now."

DOCTOR: " No, you don't understand! I'll put some cream on the place you were stung."

MAN: " Oh! It happened in the garden where I was sitting under a tree."

DOCTOR (in anger): " No, no, you IDIOT! I mean on which part of your body did that bee sting?"

MAN (still screaming in pain): " On my finger! The bee stung me on my finger and it really hurts."

DOCTOR (banging his fist, abusing and shouting):" Which one?"

MAN (innocently): " How am I to know? All bees look the same to me."

The joy of winning!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Friday, May 19, 2006 in
Recently, I read on Acro's blog how he lost all 5 matches of Table Tennis. So, I decided to resume my game. Moreover, Rabia is constantly buggin me to have our tournament matches, but I keep on making excuses that I am not well, and I've got classes and quizzes etc., when actually I am not prepared for the match!

The scenario is: Rabia Khan and I are the two girls in the whole univeristy who play a lot better than other girls. And so, we know, we're going to be playing against each other in the final! And I have to play a match (that's gonna be the semi-final; directly) with Sara Abdula. She beat Khushi in the first round(?). Rabia Khan beat Naureen Sajid. Now, I'll beat Sara Abdula (InshAllah). And Rabia Khan will beat Shamayl Ather Usmani (well, Rabia is a pretty good player).

Boys always beat us in the game. But, today was an awesome-ish day! I was practising with Umair, when Jehangir and Usman came upstairs to play. Since there were only 3 bats, we could play singles only. Although I am worst at playing singles, but thanks to Nav., who would always encourage me to atleast try and play. Well, well, well. I started having a match with Umair. It was going all smooth, when a time came when I took the lead and the score jumped to 18-12. And then I beat him at ...uh, well, I don't remember! Probably 15 or 16. And hey, I was so glad that I beat someone better than me! [I have beaten two other guys - Hasan Ashraf and Majid. They play well too].

Since there's this rule of "Winner to stay", I had to stay on the table and play my next match, though I wanted to go out and have some fresh air. Anyways, Jehangir came to play. When the game began I was ahead of him by a couple of points, but somehow, he would drag his score and make it somewhat sound like 8 all, etc. Just because he's a left-handed player, I was facing quite a lot of difficulties. Anyways, I tried and then a point came when I was almost winning the game by 19-17. Then he took one point and I took one too. The score climed to Game-18. I was damn sure, he'd tie it up, cuz I have a habit of losing points easily when I am winning an easy game. Today's game wasn't easy though. I ended the match with a beautiful smash and then I went into the state of utter hapiness and incredulity! I pronounced my happiness to Jaj (shamayl) who became quite impressed by my game! Hehehe....

Then came Usman...oops, I knew I couldn't beat him, cuz he has improved his game a lot, and I was feeling tired and was all drenched in sweat. Well, I tried. But heck, I lost the game at 16. It was all because he's got quite a strong back-hand game. And when he hits a back-hand smash, I just stand aside and watch. Lolz. But I shouldn't forget one thing. There was a day when I almost beat this guy. I mean, he cheated so he won. I lost that game at 19.

So, this was my success story. Pray I win the semi-final and final match too.. Beating Rabia Khan would be a difficult job, but surely not impossible. Your paryers and my preparation might result in my victory. So, pweaseeeee pray for meeee!!!!

Cheerio folks!

The day begins!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 in
Today, I woke up at 5:15 am (without any alarm...wohoo). Prayed Fajr! And made loadsaaa loadsaaa prayers for my upcoming quiz and for my french exam results! Refreshed myself and watched CNN at 6 am with a piece of yummy cake Biya brought on Mother's Day. Came downstairs and from that time till now (7:02 am), I've been searching for my lost sock!!!!! I've just got one sock and the other one is missing. I could have worn it, but the thing is I have two feet, not one! Two other pairs are dirty. And now I don't know what to do. My brothers are not going school today. I'm also planning on skipping my university today (just because of my sock?) Hehehe.

Anyways, Im going total crazy right now, cuz I'm worried about my sock and I am happy that I don't have to attend any french classes now (I hated Tuesdays). I am worried cuz my bus will be here in 15 minutes and I am not at all prepared but I am happy cuz I am well prepared for my quiz!

Arrrright people, you gotta pray for me.

Will meet ya after the uni.

10 Things To Do At School When Bored!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Sunday, May 07, 2006 in
1. Take off your socks, and make hand puppets. When asked a question throw
your hand up and answer through your socks. Have one puppet accuse the other of
having the wrong answer, and let them argue.

2. Take spare gum out from under your desk and mold a statue of one of your
classmates. Try to sell it to them.

3. Mimic your classmate's facial expressions. If they notice, keep doing it
until they get mad. If they get mad, keep doing it until they make a scene. If
they make a scene, raise your hand and complain that he/she is distracting you.

4. March into the classroom yelling, "Hut, two three, four." Take role call in
your best General voice. If they don't answer say, "I saaaid, (Name of
classmate)" Keep doing so until answered.

5. Bring in a fishing pole and try to "catch" your teacher. Keep saying things
like, "The last one got away," or, "Get the net, It's a big one!"

6. Make up the corniest joke you can and announce it to the teacher. Example:
Do you think that if Mexico and Texas ever got together, they would call it
"Texaco?"

7. Get out a comb and part your hair down the middle, going all the way down
the back. Borrow a pair of glasses and put them on backwards. Sit in the chair
backwards with your arms behind you, on the desk. If no one notices wait about 5
minutes then scream, "That Stupid Chiropractor!"

8. Get a pair of 3-d glasses. Wobble around while walking and keep yelling,
"Whoah, that looked so real!"

9. Start a debate on (pick a subject such as whose cooler, best color of
shoes, smart or dumb, etc.) Get a representative from each side. Have those two
debate, explaining pros and cons, get the teacher, and say, "All I said was
'those are neat shoes' and then this happened!"

10. Bring in a dog and dress it in your clothes, sit it in your seat, and talk
for it. Hide somewhere in the classroom before your teacher comes in. Try to
pass him off as you, while occasionaly mumbling, "I should have never mixed in
that citric acid."

French exam!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Saturday, May 06, 2006 in
Today, I had 2 hours of french. Pretty annoying!! And today I got to know that I've got my final paper right after a week!!! And man, I'm not prepared for even a single word!!! Arghhh!!! In this Level, I missed a lot of classes. I mean just a lotttttttttt of classes. I remember, way back in Level 1, I would consider missing a class a sin! And, not to forgot, I had the best teacher in that Level. Even in this Level, I've got a nice teacher. I won't blame her. The thing is, I am not studying these days. I mean, I really can't do my university and french assignments simultaneously. And then leaving home at 7 am and getting in at 7 pm really annoys me the most. Mommyyyy....I hate that!

So, well, I was talking about my French exam! I am hoping it to be a hell sort of a paper! Why? Because in this Level, we have studied almost all the tenses. Not almost, but really ALL the tenses. Starting from Present, then Past, Future, Conditional, Imperfect...blah blah blah... So, you guys can easily imagine that this Dinky Mind is trying its level best not to explode.

Ok, enough french blahs for today.

But hey, yesterday I noticed something. I typed http://umem.blogspot.com and it worked! So, is blogspot working now??? [Today, it's not] :(

Awight, awight, awight...

Me needa go now...

Cheerio folks!!!

'Trench Winter, November 1916'

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Friday, May 05, 2006 in ,
No shelter from the kniving wind,
No solace from the driving snow.
No warmth, no comfort or bright cheer
In heav'n above or earth below.

My soul longs to be far from here,
To be with those who care for me.
Far from the noise of clonflict grim
Where lives are toss'd on Death's dark sea.
