Something strange

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Monday, December 12, 2005 in
I don't know why when I went to university today, I found something strange. As if I had been visiting that place for the first time or probably after a long time. I tried to get this thought out of my mind, when at that very moment Shamayl came in. After our usual giggles, she looked around and made an uneasy face. Upon asking, she replied, "Why does it seem to me that I've come here for the first time?"
"Amazingly, I was thinking the same!", I supported her statement.

And at 4 pm, when all of us were very tired, Ali said, "There is something wrong today. Since morning it seems to me that I've come here after a long time."
At this Shamayl and I exchanged looks and chimed in, "We were also thinking the same."

And now Munz's online, and her nick is "What a fazool day...Idiotic lost feeling...Mondays are like that."

For us, Monday is the most busiest day of the whole week. But its been 3 months now in the university and today we felt something strange. I don't get it. Probably we all had the worst weekend of our lives. [Although nobody was telling how worst their weekend went, but their facial expressions were somewhat strange and dissatisfied.] Or it's just "Great minds think alike!"

Still wondering...

Cheerio.

Smile

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Saturday, December 10, 2005 in
If at times you want to cry,
And life seems such a trial,
Above the clouds, there's a bright blue sky,
So make your tears a smile.

As you travel on life's way,
With its many ups and downs,
Remember, it's quite true to say,
One smile is worth a dozen frowns.

Among the world's expensive things,
A smile is very cheap,
And when you give a smile away,
You get one back to keep.

Happiness comes at times to all,
But sadness comes unbidden,
And sometimes a few tears must fall,
Among the laughter hidden.

So when friends have sadness on their faces,
And troubles round them piled,
The world will seem a better place,
And all because you smiled!

[Just to cheer myself up]

Cheerio.

One good and one bad news

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Monday, December 05, 2005 in

Good news never comes alone to me. There ought to be a bad news attached to it all the time.

So, what happened today? Shamayl and I were studying Economics in the library (yes, for the first time), when Asia and Hurricane zaReeta rushed into the library, pointed me out, and in convulsive breaths hollered, “Your name’s on the notice board under the flickering bulb” (The bulb flickers when there’s a new and very very important notice on the board). The first thought that came to my mind was, “Has the director summoned me?” She then added, “There are Ali and Osman in the list too!” I adjusted my sentence to “Has the director summoned US”. But finally Shamayl intervened, “Under WHAT heading?”. And both the ladies declared unanimously, “Scholarship!”

“A WHAT?”, I hardly stopped myself from screaming. They repeated that mind-numbing word. “Must be crap”, I said irritably, though I knew they wouldn’t lie. They never do. And both of them angrily replied, “Go and check it out yourself”. There was something in their words that made me stand up and rush towards the main foyer. With a palpitating heart, I checked the notice board and BANG, there was my name under the title of, “THE FOLLOWING STUDENTS ARE REQUESTED TO COLLECT THEIR SCHOLARSHIP CHEQUES FROM THE BURSAR OFFICE”. There were 10-12 (honestly, I don’t remember the number) names in the list. I hardly managed to gulp this astonishing yet incredible news. Then I searched for Ossy and Ali to tell them about the mysterious news. Went to the Bursar office, and received the cheques with accolades from the officer. I was constantly wondering why exactly are we getting this scholarship thingy? I asked Ali and Ossy. After a few unconvincing reasons that they gave, I again asked them, “WHY?”, and Ali was like, “If you don’t want that cheque it’s ok. I have yours.”

Well, I’m still wondering the same question.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Now the bad news, or simply say The Murphy’s Law!

Murphy’s Law: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong and at the worst possible time.

We were playing basketball - just dribbling actually - when I tried to take the ball from stupid Ali and…. Murphy’s Law. Lol. I first stumbled and finally fell on the concrete floor. Ouch! That really hurts! At that time, I didn’t feel the pain at all, so I quickly stood up to avoid those concerned, yet mocking stares. There were many people around. Some were playing cricket a few feet away from us, and others were just standing there enjoying the match. You see I never fall down when I’m alone. It has to happen in front of the whole world. Argh!

I’m feeling awful now! My left leg from the knee to the foot is hurting badly. I can hardly move it. And when I walk with a limp and often stumble, my mom bursts out laughing.

Keep praying!

Cheerio folks =)

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Sunday, December 04, 2005 in

Happy Birthday, sweet Ritz!

<:o)

May you have many many more!
May we have many many more cakes from you.
May you keep smiling like that.
May we laugh at you like that. (jk, you know me :p)
May you lend me your CDs like that.
May I always forget to return them. <:p
May you buy a new cell phone soon.
May I listen to "Butterfly" on your old tiny one. (hahaha...she's got a 3-inch long Panasonic set)
May you get birthday cards from some idiotic people,
May we continue making fun of those absolutely-senseless cards (Remember that Eid wala card? hahaha)
May your dream of an iPod comes true.
May you get an iPod soon.
May you become generous once again.
May you gift that to me, as I'm your one good friend! :p

So, we're getting a cake tomorrow, right???

Enjoy!!!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Thursday, December 01, 2005 in
My mom's not well.
She's in the hospital.
Me at home.
Maid ran away.
No new maid.
Me the....uh, forget it.
Am becoming darn busy these days.
Having extra french classes.
Brain's fuming.
French becoming way too annoying now.
Having quizzes and pre-exam fears!
In need of a new template. *searches for Some Desi*
In need of a new novel.
In need of some few million packs of chips.
Will be delighted if you add some packs of chocs too.
Oh yeah. Mid term results are here.
Got full marks in Economics. *showing off* I'm a born Economist!
Have got all the marks, except for math.
Will get them today.
Keep praying for my math's result.
Winters are bad.
I don't feel like updating.
Am becoming lazy.
Alive on coffee and nuts!
Mind's dozing off.
I don't know what to post.
Today, hopefully, Gullay will update her blog.
That's why I have also updated.
That's why Ritz will also update it.
And if she doesn't, am gonna... Ritz knows what!
8 more minutes, and then I shall go and try to study.
Study what?
Study for my presentation.
Oops, virus uploading.
Just recieved this message.

UPDATE: Sowwie people, I forgot to click on the "Allow New Comments on This Post" button.
