Miss V. Williams won Wimbledon!

Posted by Umema Siddiqi on Saturday, July 02, 2005 in

Davenport, one of the game's most graceful servants, embraced her at the net. Twelve months after her sister Serena fought off tears in defeat, Venus wept them in triumph. The prize was hers, and she could not have been happier.

No yays for her. I always wanted Davenport to win. But her (Davenport's) today's injury shattered her dream of winning the Wimbledon title. Am sad!
Venus Williams capped her career resurgence Saturday, saving a match point and outlasting Lindsay Davenport 4-6, 7-6 (4), 9-7 to win the longest women's final in Wimbledon history.
Hahaha...and you should have seen Williams when she won the championship point. Haha...I can't stop myself from laughing. She was jumping like a monkey who had been released by the zoo. She was literally jumping and screaming. That was a scene to be watched. Hahaa. Okay, I agree, she won the most prestigious grand slam title, the Wimbledon, but she shouldn't have acted this way. Today, she won the Wimbledon title for the 3rd time. But she was so excited as if she has won it for the first time and at the age of 12. Uh! Last year, when Maria Sharapova (Rus.) won the title (by beating Serena Williams), she wasn't acting in such a strange way as V. Williams did today. She's crazy. She was hopping round the court. The photographers were also like, "Enough now! Please go. We don't have more film rolls." Hahaha... I'm serious. The photographers had such annoyed expressions on their faces. She was giving many two-metres long smiles. Gosh! Even Venus's dad had 2 cameras. Lol at her whole family. Her mom...well, no comments. Hahahaa...And Serena Williams. Guess what, my Mom was like, "Serena is looking better than her sister today". And I had to agree her, cuz Serena was not 'soaked in sweat', and she had her hair neatly brushed, and not like that thin braid as of Venus'. One thing else I noticed. Today, Venus wasn't wearing any sort of jewellery (well, just a coined-shaped ring). I mean, she'd wear jumbo sized earrings, and one million neclaces. But today, it was so different. She wasn't looking like herself. Hahahaha. But one thing. Today's match was awesome. Both the players were from America, but still Davenport should have won. ;) (I won't stop saying that).
And tomorrow's Men's Singles Final. (1)Roger Federer(SWI) against (2)Andy Roddick (USA). Both are my favourites. But again, Federer will win. I'm with you Roger!

Even the Australia - England cricket match is going good. England has one wicket in hand and needs 8 runs and has got just 6 balls. Means an over. Let's see who wins. Probably Australia. Maybe England. Will tell you after some minutes.
*comes after 3 minutes*
England needs 3 runs to win from 1 ball.
*goes again to watch*
...................
*comes back*
Aay lo. Match tied! This is cheating. One of the teams should have won. urgh! Anyways, I am happy. Both were my (kind of) favourite teams.
